Background requirements
Some users are sensitive to specific sounds due to traumatic experiences, and Ash's customized settings address this pain point.
Detailed setup steps
- Go to Settings → Sound Options → select "Neutral Mode" (gender neutral)
- Adjusting the speed of speech to "slower" (to reduce the feeling of pressure)
- Turn on the "stabilize tone" switch (to avoid sudden changes in pitch).
- Testing different voice samples (British or Canadian accents are recommended for the long term, with studies showing greater acceptance by traumatized users)
Scenario-based applications
- trigger warning: Ash automatically switches to a preset safe voice when the conversation involves sensitive words (e.g. "violence").
- Progressive adaptation: You can use text-only communication for 2 weeks, then gradually try voice mode at the lowest possible volume.
- environmental compatibility: noise-canceling headphones are recommended for use with a white noise background (10 ambient sounds are available within the app)
If you still feel uncomfortable, you can turn off the voice feature completely in the privacy settings and get the same full service in text-only mode.
