Generating documentation for a GitHub repository using DeepWiki is very simple, and the steps are as follows:
- Find the URL of the target GitHub repository, e.g. https://github.com/user/repo.
- Replace "github" with "deepwiki" in the URL to https://deepwiki.com/user/repo.
- Press enter to access the link and DeepWiki will automatically analyze the repository and generate a documentation page.
If the repository has not yet been indexed, the page will prompt for an email address. Once submitted, DeepWiki will index and generate the document within a few minutes.
Alternatively, you can enter the GitHub repository path (e.g. microsoft/vscode) directly into the search box on the DeepWiki website (https://deepwiki.com/) and click Search to jump to the documentation page for the corresponding repository.
Note: Document generation for public repositories is completely free and does not require registration.
