Will 2025 be the era of AI Agents and will AI replace no-code platforms?

1. What is No Code/Low Code?

Simply put, it lets people make apps, websites, or business processes without having to write any code.

Users can do this by simply clicking or dragging and dropping components. Creating technical projects becomes less difficult for beginners.

2. What is AI Agents?

It's basically a computer program that can take action for you.

They are able to create and adjust plans on their own to achieve goals. With minimal guidance, it can handle problems and help manage tasks.

3. Usage scenarios and popular tools

• Workflow automation tools: n8n, Lindy, Gumloop
• Web Application and Tool Builders: Retool, Softr, Bubble

4. AI Code Generator Strikes Back

On the other hand, tools like v0, Bolt or Loveable are also "visual" builders. Only they don't have drag and drop.

Huge advantage: full code, which means no vendor lock-in and fully customizable.

Trade-off: coding skills are still needed.

5. We're going in circles

It's back to using the visualization builder again. Due to lack of skills and the quest for speed and convenience, we started with something predefined.

Project templates are the first step. Predefined settings allow for quick delivery.

6. Why do we always go back to square one?

Even with the sequence diagram, the AI Agent code below is clear to developers, but not necessarily to non-developers.

People choose the easiest path and most don't bother learning to program. They just want a tool that will accomplish a goal or solve a problem.

7. The visual workflow builder is ready for AI Agents.

a) As a developer, I was already curious about drag and drop tools. But when you work in a team and start delegating tasks, you need workflows that even non-developers can maintain (and save money).

8. The return of the No Code builder.

We are now translating coding best practices into tips to generate our apps.

This is definitely strange, but it does work. The downsides, however, are: endless optimization, high Token usage, and inconsistency.

This reiterates the call for a strong underlying framework.

9. When one door closes, another door opens.

Some of the programs I follow are Lindy , Gumloop , FlowiseAI . They understand the impact of workflow automation and utilize AI as a powerful enabler.

10. Summary

Will No Code go away? I think it will adjust itself.

Purely click-based No Code and Low Code solutions without generative AI may fade away. Because in my opinion it's too time consuming and has many other drawbacks.

I'm excited about the workflow automation tools of 2025, especially in the context of the rise of AI Agents. But it's important that these tools not only provide AI Agents nodes, but also enable users to translate prompt words into workflows.

I recommend using the tool only when you really need it, and using your own (or generated) code whenever possible. This will give you more flexibility and save you money on monthly fees.
